Josephine talks about her family, including her protective brother. Most of her family came from Italy. She works in her father's restaurant. She also tells the whole plot of Carlito's Way, a Robert DeNiro/Brian de Palma movie.

Ida was born and bred on the Lower East Side of Manhattan. She was a court clerk. When she was younger it was safer and lots of different types of people lived together in harmony. She used to swim at the beach. Ida tells how she met her husband.

Joe is getting deli with a friend who is visiting. He talks about growing up in New York. He was born in Brooklyn, then moved to Manhattan and lived in Little Italy. He talks about going to City Hall Park and seeing mayor La Guardia.

Ida was born and raised on the east side of New York.  All of her family is from there and is currently still living there as well.  She was 66 years old at the time of recording and is married.  She talks about what it was like growing up there and that she had a safe and fun childhood.

Ben is a native New Yorker that has lived on the east side for almost 20 years.  He is approximately 60 years of age or older. He works at a Jewish deli that is one of the best around and is visited by celebrities.  He talks about how he enjoys working there and how wonderful the food is.

Joe has lived in the Manhattan area of New York for most of his life. He is almost 60 years old and comes from a Jewish family.  He talks about growing up in New York and that his family was one of the only Jewish families in the neighborhood at the time.

Ben, an employee of 2nd ave deli,  talks about the deli, the foods available and the stars that come and eat there. He’s an old time waiter who will take care of you like kings and queens.
